Many refugee women are separated from their families as a result of conflict and their refugee experiences. They may not know where to turn to find a missing relative or how to get a message to them.
The British Red Cross has an international tracing and message service, and works worldwide to restore and maintain contact between families.
The UK allows recognised refugees to apply to be reunited with their immediate family (his or her spouse and dependent children less than 18 years of age). Applications for family reunion can also be submitted where a recognised refugee wishes to be reunited with their extended family (i.e. someone who is neither their spouse nor their minor children). The British Red Cross also provides support with the reunification process.
